Tuesday 20 May 2008: 42 of 45 of Kentucky's delegates to the Republican National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Kentucky Presidential Primary.

  • 42 delegates to the National Convention are to be allocated to presidential contenders based on the primary vote statewide. A 15% threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates at the statewide level.

Delegates to the national convention are bound for the first ballot. If a candidate dies or withdraws, any delegates allocated to that candidate become uncommitted.

The 3 party leaders, the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Kentucky's Republican Party, will attend the convention as unpledged delegates by virtue of their position.
