This is a state by state digest of offices up for election November 7, 2000. Each office shows the party, candidate, and the incumbent's primary status.
Incumbents have the advantage this year. During the primary season, 429 incumbents were RENOMINATED while 2 lost their bid for renomination. Since 1972, these 8 states have always voted for the winning Presidential Candidate: Arkansas, Delaware, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. The polls in these states show a 6 to 2 preference for Bush however the polls are very close in 6 states. The only poll that matters is the one on November 7th.
