Nebraska Primaries for Statewide offices and Congress

The Popular Vote above is based on official results obtained from the Nebraska Secretary of State for the 11 May Primary. This Presidential Primary coincides with a state/local primary. These coinciding primaries tend to have an impact upon voter turnout.

Returns from an official source: http://www.sos.state.ne.us/local/canvass/primary2004/Pres.htm#Republican

The Nebraska Republican Party elected 32 delegates pledged to President George W. Bush during the State Convention.

Tuesday 11 May 2004 - Nebraska's National Convention delegates are not bound by the results of today's Presidential Preference Primary.

Saturday 26 June 2004: The Nebraska State Republican Convention convenes. Congressional District Caucuses made up of the State Convention delegates from each of Nebraska's 3 congressional districts choose the 9 district National Convention delegates (3 per congressional district). The State Convention as a whole selects 23 (10 base at-large plus 13 bonus) at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention.

  • Prospective delegates must indicate their Presidential Preference and are bound to vote for that candidate for the first 2 ballots at the National Convention.

In addition, 3 party leaders, the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Iowa's Republican Party, will attend the convention as unpledged delegates by virtue of their position.
