The delegate selection processes herein was updated 1 June 2011 per the Draft 2012 Delegate Selection Plan as of May 2011. Starting on Tuesday 20 March 2012, a 15% pledged delegate bonus is awarded when clusters of 3 or more neighboring states (Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island) begin on the same date (24 April 2012). The state received a 10% pledged delegate bonus for starting in Stage II (April). |
Since only one candidate, President Obama, met the criteria to be listed on the ballot, there will be no primary. President Obama will receive all 73 pledged delegates. Participation in Connecticut's delegate selection process is open to all voters who wish to participate as Democrats. Tuesday 24 April 2012: 73 of 88 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Connecticut Presidential Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level.

These 15 delegates and will go to the Democratic National Convention officially "Unpledged". Notes: On 8 July 2011, Governor Dannel P. "Dan" Malloy (Democratic) signed HB 6532. The bill moves the state's Presidential Primary from the 1st Tuesday in February to the last Tuesday in April. |
