The delegate selection processes herein was updated 2 May 2012 per the 2012 Delegate Selection Plan as of April 2011 and a telephone call to the party. The state received a 20% pledged delegate bonus for starting in Stage III (May and June). 8 May 2012 returns from an official source. |
Participation in West Virginia's delegate selection process is open to all voters who wish to participate as Democrats. The Democratic Primary is open to all registered Democrats and voters who are not a member of another party. Tuesday 8 May 2012: 36 of 47 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's West Virginia Presidential Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be pledged National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level.

National Convention District level delegates are elected during the District Caucuses at the 8 June 2012 State Convention according to the results of the primary.
