The Popular Vote above is based on official
returns from the 23 May Primary.
This Presidential Primary coincides with a state/local primary. These
coinciding primaries tend to have an impact upon voter turnout.
6 July 2000: The Arkansas Republicans will meet this Saturday, July
8, 2000, to choose the remaining National Convention delegates. Prior
to the primary only one person filed as a Keyes delegate however the
primary provided Keyes with 5 pledged delegate positions. The
remaining 4 Keyes delegate positions will be selected from those who
filed as as Bush delegates. These 4 delegates will go to the
convention pledged to Keyes.
23 May 2000: Delegate estimate: Keyes receives 5 (20% * 24 = 4.8) and Bush
receives 19 (80% * 24 = 19.2) of the 24 delegates. However, only 1
person filed as a Keyes delegate. The Arkansas Republican party will
resolve this during the 19 June District Conventions and 24 June State Convention.
Tuesday 23 May 2000: all 24 of Arkansas' delegates to the
Republican National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders
based on the results of the voting in today's Arkansas Presidential
Primary.
