The Popular Vote above is based on official returns from the 2
May Primary. This Presidential Primary coincides with a state/local
primary. These coinciding primaries tend to have an impact upon voter
turnout.
Delegate allocation - Note that the Bauer, rather than Uncommitted, received a delegate.
- Bush receives 49 delegates (48.9 = 79% of 62 delegates).
- McCain receives 7 delegates (6.8 = 11% of 62 delegates).
- Keyes receives 5 delegates (4.9 = 8% of 62 delegates).
- Uncommitted receives 0 delegates (1.2 = 2% of 62 delegates).
- Bauer receives 1 delegate (0.6 = 1% of 62 delegates).
Tuesday 2 May 2000: All 62 of North Carolina's delegates to the Republican National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's North Carolina Primary.
- "The State Chairman shall allocate Delegate positions between the
Candidates accurately reflecting the division of votes in the statewide
primary. Each person nominated as a Delegate at either the District or
State Convention must have publicly declared as a representative of a
Candidate on the Presidential Preference Primary ballot prior to the
election of Delegates to the National Convention."
