13 May 2008: Ohio House Democrats filed articles of impeachment against Democratic Attorney General Marc Dann, accusing the state's top lawyer of misconduct and malfeasance in office. Attorney General Marc Dann, who was first elected in 2006, resigned the next day.

By law, first assistant attorney general, Tom Winters, becomes the interim Attorney General until Democratic Governor Ted Strickland appoints a replacement. Each party will name a nominee for a 4 November 2008 special election to fill the remainder of Mr. Dann's term.

28 May 2008: Governor Ted Strickland appointed Nancy H. Rogers as the Ohio Attorney General. She has indicated she will not seek election in November.

The next regular election for this office is Tuesday 2 November 2010.
