Monday 26 June 2000: Update -- Keyes did not submit a list of
proposed delegates by May 12 as required under Idaho law. He did
submit a list of 8 names at the time of the State Convention. No names
were submitted by individuals desiring to go to the National Convention
as "uncommitted" delegates. Consequently, Gov. Bush, received all 22
Primary slate delegates.
The 6 delegates selected at the State Convention were chosen from
names submitted by both the Keyes and Bush campaigns. These
delegates will go the convention officially "uncommitted". They
are tallied as "Uncommitted" in our "Hard Total" but remain
"(available)" in the "Soft Total".
The Popular Vote above is based on official returns
from the 23 May Primary. This Presidential Primary coincides with a
state/local primary. These coinciding primaries tend to have an impact
upon voter turnout.
Delegate estimate: Bush receives 74% * 22 = 16.3 delegates, Keyes receives
19% * 22 delegates = 4.2, Uncommitted receives 7% * 22 = 1.5 delegates.
Tuesday 23 May 2000: 22 of Idaho's 28 delegates to the Republican
National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders in today's
Idaho Presidential Primary.
Friday, 23 June to Saturday 24 June 2000: The remaining 6 National Convention delegates are
chosen by the Idaho State Republican Convention in Pocatello. These 6 delegates
will go to the Republican National Convention officially "Unpledged".
