  • Member of Congress Ron Wright (Republican, Texas, CD 5) died on 7 February 2021.
  • Member of Congress Claudia Tenney (Republican, New York, CD 22) was sworn on 11 February 2021 after a contested 3 November 2020 election.

In Special Elections, all candidates, regardless of party affiliation, run on a single ballot. If one candidate receives a majority of the vote in the 1 May 2021 Special Election, that candidate is elected. Otherwise, the top two vote-getters advance to a runoff on a date to be set once the vote is certified.
1 May 2021: Since no candidate received a majority of the vote (50% + 1) in the 1 May 2021 Special Election, the top two vote-getters, Susan Wright (Republican) and state Representative John Kevin "Jake" Ellzey, Sr. (Republican), will advance to a runoff on a date to be set once the vote is certified.
13 May 2021: Governor Greg Abbott (Republican) called a Special Runoff Election for 27 July.
