At Secretary of State's discretion, presidential candidate names are placed on the ballot 80 days before the primary election. Participation in Maryland's delegate selection process is open to registered Democrats. 95 of 118 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Maryland Presidential Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level. Saturday 8 June 2024: State Party Committee Meeting. Pledged PLEO and At-Large National Convention delegates are elected nu the State Central Committee according to the Presidential Preferences expressed at the Primary. If a presidential candidate is eligible to receive District delegates but failed to slate enough delegates, the Democratic State Central Committee elects additional delegates pledged to that candidate.
