Participation in Vermont's delegate selection process is open to all voters who wish to participate as Democrats. There is no party registration in Vermont. After marking their ballot, a voter presents the ballot to election clerks, publicly declaring the party they are submitting. This declaration becomes part of the public record. Tuesday 3 March 2020: Vermont Primary. Hours 5:00a-7:00p EST (1000-0000 UTC). Polls may open as early as 5:00a and no later than 10:00a as set by the Board of Civil Authority. Delegate Pledging: Proportional Primary. Voter Eligibility: Open Primary.
16 of 24 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Vermont Presidential Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be pledged National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level.
