This Presidential Primary coincides with a state/local primary. These coinciding primaries tend to have an impact upon voter turnout. Participation in Puerto Rico's delegate selection process is open voters who wish to participate as Democrats. Participants may not take part in any other party's Presidential Nominating process. Sunday 5 June 2016 (presumably): Puerto Rico Primary. Hours 8:00a-3:00p AST (1200-1900 UTC). Delegate Pledging: Proportional Primary. Voter Eligibility: Open Primary.
Sunday 5 June 2016 (presumably): 60 of 67 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to presidential contenders based on the results of today's Puerto Rico Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be pledged National Convention delegates at either the senatorial district or islandwide level. A fine point: The 40 National Convention District delegates are pledged according to the preferences expressed at the Primary. The National Convention 13 At-Large and 7 Pledged PLEO delegates are pledged using the preferences of the 40 National Convention District delegates.
