Delegation Selection Plan Indiana Democratic Party.

16 June 2023: DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee Meeting found this plan in conditional compliance. Due to the May primary, the state qualifies for a 20% bonus which is 12 additional delegates.
28 July 2023: The Rules and Bylaws Committee approves a waiver to conduct the State Convention on 13 July 2023 due to venue availability (original date was 1 June 2023).

This Presidential Primary coincides with a state/local primary. These coinciding primaries tend to have an impact upon voter turnout.

Participation in Indiana's delegate selection process is open to all voters who wish to participate as Democrats. Voters wishing to declare their Democratic Party preference at the polls must ask for a Democratic ballot and sign a document establishing their new party preference.

Tuesday 7 May 2024: Indiana Primary. Hours reportedly 6:00a-6:00p EDT (1000-2200 UTC) / 6:00a-6:00p CDT (1100-2300 UTC). Although a portion of this state is in CT, the majority of the polls are closed by the time indicated ET when the networks feel they can project. Delegate Pledging: Proportional Primary. 79 of 88 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Indiana Presidential Primary. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level.   • 53 district delegates are to be allocated proportionally to presidential contenders based on the primary results in each of the State's 9 congressional districts.
  • 26 delegates are to be allocated to presidential contenders based on the primary vote statewide.

28 July 2023: The Rules and Bylaws Committee approves a waiver to conduct the State Convention on 13 July 2023.

Saturday 13 July 2024: State Convention in Indianapolis.

The National Convention delegates are elected according to the results of the primary.

The remaining 9 National Convention delegates consist of

  • 9 Unpledged PLEO delegates:
    • 7 Democratic National Committee members.
    • 2 Members of Congress (0 Senators and 2 Representatives).
    • 0 Governors.
    • 0 Distinguished Party Leaders.

These 9 delegates and will go to the Democratic National Convention officially "Unpledged".
