Saturday 18 May 2024: State Convention. Hours reportedly begin at 2:00p EDT (1800 UTC). The 25 At-Large National Convention Delegates are according to the results of the Presidential Primary. The 3 party leaders, the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Kentucky's Republican Party, will attend the convention as bound delegates by virtue of their position. |
This Presidential Primary coincides with a state/local primary. These coinciding primaries tend to have an impact upon voter turnout. Kentucky holds closed party primaries. Voters must identify party preference at the time of registration (at least 29 days before the election) to be eligible to vote in the primary election. ... No candidate's name shall appear on any voting machine or absentee ballot more than once, except that a candidate's name may appear twice if he is a candidate for a primary or a regular election and also a candidate to fill a vacancy in the same office required .... All 46 of Kentucky's delegates to the Republican National Convention are bound to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's Kentucky Primary.
Trump: 46 delegates × 215,617 ÷ 215,617 = 46.000 delegates. Round to 46. Delegates to the national convention are bound for the first ballot. If a candidate dies or withdraws, any delegates bound to that candidate become uncommitted. "Withdrawal shall mean notice in writing by the candidate to the chairman of the Kentucky delegation prior to the first ballot." [KRS 118.641(2)] |
